Kitty Hawk Models 1:48 F-35B Lightning II

I am always interested in the latest military hardware and the F-35B is one of the biggest leaps in modern aviation. The F-35B is the version used by the USMC using Short Take Off and Vertical Landing technology that will replace the Harrier. I have been waiting for a long time for the release of a decent kit since the Panda Models version. Kitty Hawk Models is a relative newcomer on the market and the detail on this set is great. There are a few detail sets available to make the kit even better. The instructions were less than desirable and almost laughable. After the translation process, several of the kit part numbers were wrong. You almost have to treat the instructions has a guideline,  deviating when necessary. The instructions do not include what paint to use for the parts.

The lift fan was challenging to build. I chose to not attach all of the points to the fuselage. This made attaching the two halves much easier.

The Weapons bay lacked equipment from the kit and so I added some SDBs from Skunk Models. I wish that there were some options included with the kit.

The cockpit was simple as it is in real life. Detail could be added by putting in an aftermarket ejection seat.

Overall, this was a great kit that I would purchase again. I may build the Air Force version with all of the doors closed, showing how streamline the jet is in life.
